After over a month in the Baltic (and a brief tour of Norway) we're about to embark on a new journey! The next few weeks will take us all the way from Southampton, UK, along the coast of France, and Spain, and all the way to Lisbon, Portugal, and back!
Southampton, England
It was nice to be in England because it was close to what I know as "normal." So, my first time here I had a nice regular day.
I went to the mall and shopped. Hooray!
New Converse to match my pants |
I took a taxi cab.
Wait, this is backwards. |
And I spotted something that was obviously a typo.
Wait, what? |
Southampton was an embarkation port. Every time we would come here in the future, we would be disembarking the previous group of passengers, and embarking the new ones. As an entertainer, this meant that I had less free time to enjoy the city because I would be expected on board to help show the new people around. Thankfully, the West Quay shopping mall is not very far from the ship, and the cab ride only cost about five pounds.
What was that? You want to know more about what goes on below decks? Hmm, okay. Well here's something that I will never forget.
Deck and Engine Party Karaoke Nights
Oh dear Lord, I want this to be a positive and uplifting post, but all I can think of is how many times I would be trying to take a nap, and then I would hear some random Filipino yelling, "Allllllll byyyyyyy myyyyyyseeeeeelf. Don't wanna live, alllllll byyyyyyy myyyyyseeeeeeeelf, anymoooooore!"
Why is that the Filipino karaoke theme song? Somebody tell me why!
Now, I'm not knocking Filipinos. I have often said that these people have some of the best ears in the world and can out karaoke just about any other race on the planet. But this party happened weekly and it took place only twenty feet from my bedroom. So, you can understand my frustration here.
On this night however, there was a celebrity appearance at the Deck and Engine Party.
A video is worth 1,000 pictures.
They love her.
If a major world event is going on and you're at sea, you won't miss it. We broadcasted the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in our theater and provided drinks and popcorn. You could also watch from the comfort of your own room.
As a crew member though, comfort and room don't always go together. And technically the popcorn is only for the guests. Oh well.
Bordeaux, France
Heh heh heh |
Oh yeah, I'm getting in that. |
I know, I make a good princess Leia. I see it. |
Fly with me!
Brown rivers make me sad. |
"I'm flying!" |
Your guess is as good as mine. |
Cockpit Panorama. Wait, isn't a helicopter only a cockpit? Is that the right word? Who came up with that anyway? |
I love flying...hope you take a longer video next time you get to do this...♥
