Bike Tour of Tallinn - Video

August 24, 2012
Tallinn, Estonia

Today, I went on the bike tour of Tallinn, Estonia and I held my camera in my hand for much of it.  The tour starts right at your ship, and then you head east to ride through much of modern day Estonia.  This is where you see where people live and work, and then you get to stop by the government buildings and museums.  But the real fun is halfway though when you ride back past the docks and head into the medieval old town.  This town is the oldest completely in tact medieval town in the world, and they love to play it up there.  You will find serving wenches in costume offering you tankards of ale while fire eaters and pages beckon you to dine in their establishments.

Extra Points if you know where all my music is from.
Hint: It's all from the same place.
Freaking Huge Hint: When you heard it, you thought, "WOW this is really good music!"

I love Tallinn.

Note on the resolution - please bare with me on the small size of my files for a while.  I have already started my next contract, and I'm trying to catch up with my blog.  This video was uploaded from a cafe in Cabo San Lucas.  When I get a stronger connection, I'll put up the high res one.

Actually, I think I will add some more pictures because I realize I need to have them in order for a thumbnail to appear in my links.  So, here we go:

This statue is called Rusalka.  It is on the coast and it looks out towards the area where a Russian vessel once sank.  When you see her in the video, you will notice the Orthodox cross on the monument.

I'll tell you a story about this wall.  One time, when Estonia was under siege by Russia, and when they were nearly dead because of starvation, the city asked an old was clergy man what to do.  The man said, "Throw a party, and throw all your food and provisions over this wall at the enemy."  The city was confused, but they listed to the wise man anyway.  The very next day, the Russian army, discouraged by the apparent abundance of food still left inside the city, picked up and left because they didn't want to wait the siege out for as long as they now thought it was going to be.
