Wild Wild Dominica

November 10, 2012
Dominica

There is an island in the Caribbean that you can go to if you want to feel like Indiana Jones.  But first, I have to get this Lucky Charms photo out of the way.

It's Dominica.  Don't let the above picture fool you.  Sure, rainbows are an often occurrence in this place, but it is not all sunshine and lollipops.  Dominica is wild, and full of rain forest, more so than any other island in the region.

So, if you don't like adventure, you stay on the boat because the towns there are $@%#.  On this day, I escorted some guests throughout the island.  We visited the Trefalgar Falls, and the Emerald Pool.

Could I perhaps interest you in a bridge in Florida?
 Trefalgar Falls
It's true: I have two cowlicks.  This is one of them

After the Trefalgar Falls, it was a quick drive and a small hike to the Emerald Pool

We're almost there!

 Yes, this place actually exists.

It's not just pretty to look at, you can get in.  On November 10, I didn't get in.  I was too busy shepherding the guests around, but I made note of this place and planned to come back.

Here are those two places in action:

December 12, 2012
By December, I was pretty much over the tours.  There's only so much baby sitting of older people that one can put up with, and I had more than had my fill.  So this time, Marcy and I made some great friends with two of the guests, and we explored Dominica all on our own.
So, first thing's first: back to the Emerald Pool.  And this time we get in it.

Duke, Marcy, John, and Marcos.
On the way from the Emerald Pool to our next stop, our driver took us to this guy by the side of the rode selling all kinds of tropical fruits.

Everything was incredible.  I had pineapple and coconut, like I always do.  This guy was funny too.  As he was chopping away at all the fruit, he rapped.  Everything that came out of his mouth had to rhyme.  Marcy called herself Madison, and he called her the medicine, and... I'm just saying, it was an experience.

But the most awesome thing is what happened next.  We were driven to the top of a river, where we got in some inner tubes, and then floated all the way down.  Marcy says it was the most fun she has ever had in her life.  It was pretty fun.  I mean, we all had a good time.  To me, I was happy just knowing that I was living an 80s arcade game called Tubin'.

Yeah, definitely an incredible day.
Friend in life for one cruise, friends on facebook forever.
