Bringing Red Sox Nation to the Big Apple

October 22, 2012
New York, New York!

If we hadn't had the good fortune of an unexpected extra two days in New York two weeks prior to this, then this day would have been a tragedy.  It was an embarkation day, meaning most of us had to work half the day, and it left only a small handful of hours to get anything done.  Fortunately, that was all the time Roxana and I needed.

I had nothing on my agenda for the day.  New York is not my city.  I have nothing against it, I'm just a Boston guy, and I haven't lived in New York yet.  That may very well be the next step in my life, but that remains to be seen.  When Roxana said, "I really want to go to TJ Max and buy clothes," I said, "Sure, I'll take you!" and off we went.

Roxana is one of my favorite people in the world and it breaks my heart that we're on different ships now. (#shiplife)  So, I look back on this day with a lot of appreciation.  Watching Roxana in TJ Max was very much like watching a kid in a candy store.

I know it's blurry, but look how happy she is!
I won't make fun of her and tell you how many of our precious few hours we spent in TJ Max, but even so, we had just enough time to be tourists before we made our mad dash back to the ship for sail away.

It's always a blessing to witness someone having a moment of awe.

In honor of my ABBA show.

Remember how I said all my friends are pretty?  I'm so lucky.

That's right.  Bringing Red Sox Nation to the Big Apple.

The following pictures were taken as we sailed out of the harbor during sunset.

This is a major turning point in my blog.  I have so far documented all my travels in the Baltic, Norway, the western coast of Europe, and the Northeast of North America.  In the next two and a half months that are covered you will see much more sunshine, many beaches, and lots of fish because now we're headed to Bermuda and the Caribbean!
