Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
I'm sorry to say, but Sydney, Nova Scotia is about as exciting as Redlands, California. Seriously, their the same city, only one of them sucks in the winter and the other sucks in the summer. Nevertheless, Sydney is the gateway to the incredibly beautiful Cape Breton Island, where Alexander Graham Bell made his home.
Now you know that name because he invented the telephone right? Well, it turns out that he invented a great many other things that we use today. On Cape Breton Island there is an Alexander Graham Bell Museum, and guess what, it's not boring. I liked it.
First of all, it's freaking beautiful. |

This is the Island we were driving around. |
The first hydrofoil |
Yes, Alexander Graham Bell invented the Hydrofoil. What's a hydrofoil? Go back and read my blog on Peterhof: My blog post on Peterhof
And here, I'll re post the video:
Oooh! Before I left the museum, I had the most amazing pastry. I'm not even a pastry guy, but I love dates, and their little cafe was selling these date squares. It was the best thing I had put in my mouth for quite some time.
Amaaaaaaazing, OMG! |
Since Cape Breton Island became the home of Alexander Graham Bell, Canada in turn honors his legacy in many ways. These statues of him and his wife sitting by their favorite lake are a little example.
Aren't they cute together? |
Aren't WE cute together? |
And what a lake...

The cherry on top though would be the official send off that the people of Sydney gave us.
I have no words for this now, but I'm pretty sure I say enough in the video:
Oh, and a giant violin...

Next time on Duke's Excellent Adventure:
I neglect to mention that our next stop on Saturday the 29th is Halifax, Nova Scotia, and that I went to the movies to see Looper with my friend Stephy, the spa manager.
It's cloudy and rainy, but I'm prepared. |
Should we see Looper or Pitch Perfect? Pssh, no contest! |
