Living the Chocolate Dream in Montreal

October 11-13, 2012
Montreal, Canada

We had just completed our New York to Montreal trip, and we're just about to turn around and do the whole thing in reverse, but first is our three day weekend in Montreal.

Rarely on cruise itineraries do you come in contact with cold weather.  Well, this was one of those times.  Montreal in the fall...take a jacket.  I will say though, after nothing but perfect summer weather for three months, it was nice to feel something a little refreshing.  Of course, I would eat those words later on the morning of embarkation on the 13th when we were all freezing our faces off.

Of all the things I did in Montreal, the highlight for me was this chocolate restaurant Cacao 70.
$300 worth of solid chocolate.

After perusing the menu and trying to decide between chocolate pizzas, waffles, and fondue, we just decided to get everything!

It's as good as it looks.

Chocolate pizzas, waffles, bananas, ice cream, caramel, white chocolate, chocolate sauce, heaven.

Cowabunga!

I think we did well.
Montreal is the New York City of Canada.  Big city, lots of people, only they all speak French.  In the entire province of Quebec, only twenty percent of the population speaks English, and those 20% are all in Montreal.  But even so, finding that 20% and getting them to use their English is not always the easiest thing.  French Canadians are the only people group I have met who listen to what you have to say, and then make the decision of whether or not they want to talk with you.

Oh, the other highlight of my Montreal trip: they had a Five Guys.  Not quite In-N-Out, but it's at least half way there.

Here are a few of the sights I was able to see from the Cruise ship as it was about to pull out.

Your guess is as good as mine.
