Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
First thing is first. Here is a special message to all my friends in Rochester, NY. It also explains why Prince Edward Island is so special to me.
As your ship is pulling in, the first thing you should notice about PEI is the red clay dirt.
You may also notice some really nice looking buildings. But, back to the dirt.
I don't know what causes it, and I can't explain it. But I like it, and the whole island is like this.
The last time I was here, six years ago, we had time to go all over the Island. I remember one particular part of the day when we visited a lighthouse completely surrounded by red clay rocks. I wish I had a picture of that right about now. Sorry.
I can honesty say that I never thought I would come back to this place. It was so off the beaten path from anything a performer normally does that I counted it a blessing I was ever here once.
So, I hope you will excuse the face that I didn't do any exciting excursions or travel all over the island. Instead I just recreated the fun time I had with all of my friends six years ago. And that would mean I spend the little free time that I had at Peake's Wharf.
In six years, nothing has changed here. And I bet you in six more, it will look exactly the same.
I know I'm just being sentimental now, but this is the parking lot that we parked in when I was here six years ago.
Okay, this is just for fun. They totally have a shop that sells everything dyed the color of their clay dirt. Inside you can buy the ever popular PEI Dirt Shirt.
No white clothing allowed!
For that fresh I-just-rolled-in-the-mud look. |
It's now time for me to say goodbye once again to Prince Edward Island. This time I didn't make it anywhere beyond Peake's Wharf, but if I did, it would have looked exactly like this:
Poster inside cruise terminal. It really is this pretty though. |
And I did manage to score some Raspberry Cordial for the ship.
That's right. Girls everywhere, be jealous. Be jealous right now. |
